I have never needed to wear a neck tie to work. I have always been a button down shirt and slacks guy at work. In recent years, I sported a bow tie for the rare formal occasion. I am not against these formal accoutrements, but they have never applied to my professional life.
Last night I decided to end the no tie era of my life. I wore a tie to work for no reason on Monday. I liked it. I looked good. It didn’t seem too formal. I am going to start wearing a tie to work more often.
