Spring Break

Starting next week I am off of work until March 31.   We get two weeks off, one for Easter and one for relaxing.   Michele and her mother are going to the Galapagos Islands, and I am left wondering what to do.    I am trying to do the trip rather cheaply, because I am going to be gone all summer, and I have yet to even buy the tickets for that trip.   That being said, I am considering a trip to Amazon Jungle.

From Quito I will go to the town of Francisco de Orellana (Coca), which is a oil town on the cusp of the Amazon.  I will be able to catch a boat to the Limoncocha nature preserve, and see some animals.   I would like to go further down river, but to do so means I would need to go all the way into Peru, and I do not want to buy a flight back.  There is an island full of monkeys on the Napo River I would like to see, but I am not sure how to achieve this.

From Limoncocha, catch a bus back to Coca, where I can take a bus south to Macas.  Here I can explore more of the jungle, and try to relax for a day or two.   When I am finished with Macas, take a long overnight bus to Cuenca, where I can spend the last few days in the in third biggest city of Ecuador.  Michele can meet me here, after her return from the Galapagos

Any thoughts?   Anyone volunteering to do some independent research on this for me?
