Star Wars

Well on Friday I went to see Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and really liked it. I have been reading every review, forum, or commentary on it since then. The most asinine one to date is by Slavoj Žižek. In perfect Lacanian fashion he focuses on the topic STAR WARS for almost have the article and spends the rest of the type blathering on about eastern religious ideals greasing the modern cogs of capitalism.

Unlike Žižek, let us get back to talking about the movie. As a super Star Wars fan I of course have a few complaints, but I do not want to spoil it for all of you so I am just going to be very general in all of this. As can be seen in the earlier two episodes Lucas uses CGI too much and he can’t write a love scene to save his life. These are the two biggest non-spoiler complaints.

Episodes I & II are awful and this does not save them, however it is a good film for the series. I suggest everyone go and see it as soon as possible.

My one big question is this. Will future generation watch them in chronological order or the order in which they were made?

  1. Well, in your honor sir, I went and rented episdoes 4, 5, 6, 1 and 2. I don’t know if I’ll get to them before I leave for Texas but I wanted to give it a try. I will try my best to NOT ask so many questions but instead will write them down as I go. That way, if they haven’t been answered by the end, I can always ask you!

And..since I’ve never seen any episodes before I will see them in their original order. I was, however, going to see them in chronological order and compare/contrast with you.

  2. I was going to see episodes 1 and 2, but Josh said they were awful, so why waste the time? Obviously, it is not necessary to see the first three episodes in order to enjoy the original Star Wars films. There is no information in the three new episodes that you need to have before you watch the original Star Wars trilogy.

Isn’t it evident that these new Star Wars films are lacking in inspiration and imagination and are just being made for the money? Why not spend your time watching films that were made for more reasons than for money?
