Edward Said died yesterday. I did not know him, but always wanted to do so. I find him to be one of the most eloquent intellectuals I have ever read, and have never carried a bad word about him. I do not know why I am affected by this, but it seems as though I am actually sad. I was always going to send him and email and praise his scholarship, and let him know how much he changed the way I look at the world. I guess I waited too long…
